What We Do
BudgetCalculators.org is a free monthly budget calculator for US households. Add your income sources and expense categories, and the calculator instantly shows your monthly and annual surplus or deficit — plus a comparison against the 50/30/20 rule and common category spending guidelines.
No Account Required
All calculations happen entirely in your browser. We never collect, store, or transmit any of the figures you enter. There's no account, no sign-up, and no data leaves your device. The tool is free to use and always will be.
How It's Funded
This site is supported by Google AdSense display advertising. No financial institution, bank, or financial advisor pays us for placement or referrals, and no advertiser influences our calculator results or content.
Budget Guidelines Sources
The 50/30/20 rule was popularized by Senator Elizabeth Warren and Amelia Warren Tyagi in All Your Worth: The Ultimate Lifetime Money Plan (2005). Category spending ranges are derived from Consumer Financial Protection Bureau guidance and Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Expenditure Survey data. These are general guidelines — actual needs vary significantly by income level, family size, and cost of living in your area.
